First Lady – a Poem about nobody in particular

First lady, first lady
Can you come stand beside me.
I'd like to capture your elegance with a picture.
Dress in black and white.
Your smile the only light.
Strike a pose, say cheese hear a snap.
And it's all over.

Walk back towards the plane.
We watch in a haze.
Shattered thinking this visit is the last.
On the stairs you turn and wave.
The crowds spirits are raised.
What a pleasant end to the act.

I hope the rumours aren't true.
We found a discrepancy in your review.
Suppressed stories of rage.
Shouting contests with interns.
Slapping your drivers.
All from the lips of a spiteful aide.

I see you now as human.
A mistake or two is common.
Owning up is our only request.
Step back from the public.
They want you humiliated.
First lady, first lady
Sooner or later you'll have to answer to us.

Remember This? Oz record

This was a good find. The only copy of the soundtrack that I have personally ever seen.
It is from the early 60's and contains soundbites from the movie as well.

Identity - Poem

Identity

I bare my soul.
And constantly rebuked.
Tend to stick my foot in my mouth.
Consistently eating shoes.
I've learned how to be me, by studying myself.
Kept an eye on my eye, and replaced I with you.
I am but one person.
I act like I'm two.
I have one name.
But more may do.

If I try I will fail.
The situation never matters.
It's all I know how to do.
So in certain circumstances.
I picture myself removed.
Allow life to keep going.
And I watch like a movie.
Roll with what comes at me.
With minimal kicking and screaming.

It isn't always easy.
To turn off your feelings.
Your nerves become shot.
You are blind to what you see.
It might seem cruel.
It might sound mean.
Emotions just get in the way.
Shut yourself off.
It's all you'll need.

My favorite Christmas album record

One of the few, but by far, my favorite Christmas albums I own. A fantastic funny record.

Downtown T-town pictures

Some pictures I have taken of Downtown Tulsa recently. The BOK tower still makes me think of the World Trade Center Buildings.

Remember This? Speaking In Tongues record

This is a clear vinyl copy of the Talking Heads album Speaking In Tongues. Released on Sire Records in 1983. The album features one of my favorite TH songs, This Must Be The Place, which is the last song on the record.

Oh Austin(The City) - A poem

This is just something short about a city I've become fascinated with recently. A city I'd love to spend more time in.

Oh Austin
Down 35 12 hours away.
I can't here your voice from here.
I can only imagine the sound being great.
Oh Austin
I've noticed downtown starting to reach towards the sky.
Do the urban elite like watching it rise?
Are the bats still a sight?
Would I need a car, or could I make it with a bike?
I'd rather avoid the messy bridge on 35.
Oh Austin
Your jammed surface streets.
Parking lot highways.
Rising rent.
Yet you're still oh so tempting.
Oh Austin
Have you lost your charm?
From far away I can't tell.
Have you sold out to yuppies?
You must have other qualities to sell.
Are you the artist safe haven?
That you are made out to be.
A utopia in the middle of a dead sea.
Oh Austin
I'll find out for myself.
Leave a light on for me.

Misunderstood - unfinished poem

We have no pride in ourselves.
When we're given the ball, we fumble.
We know it's our fault.
We don't blame the elders.
In their eyes, a chance isn't what we deserve.
And there are those that say...

Can you hear me now?
Make me proud.
Life throws us curves, like a highways twists and turns.
You can choose to slow down.

Remember This? Autobahn

This is a promo copy of the album Autobahn by Kraftwerk. The cover isn't in that good of shape, but the record isn't too bad.

Finish Something - Poem

Because of my insecurities. I struggle to meet my own wants.
In the eyes of others, I'm like a lost child.
Running from one place to another.
In constant motion creating.
Rarely finishing.
Here I am.
In combat against myself.
Nothing has gotten better.
I'm too afraid of failure.
I know it's all that awaits.
Quitting is a crutch.
An excuse.
To stay in this pit.
Avoidable yes, but I always crash.
What drives me now?
Is everything beyond my control?
I feel stuck in the mud.
I need a good push and pull.

Where have all the cowboys gone? 7in 45rpm single

Remember this song? To be honest I had forgotten about it until I ran across this single one day.

Beauty And Smile - Poem

I open my eyes awake, after a rest.
I don't see it.
Sit at the edge of my bed, stare at the white wall.
I still don't see it.
If I decide to eat breakfast, I do so alone and in silence.
It's not around me.
I'll turn on my computer and search, yet I can't find it.
So before I eat lead, I'll look for it outside.
Walking the streets has made it worse.
It appears there is none to be found.
As the temperature rose, so did my spirit.
But nothing else changed, altered, or finished.
I stop at the park and sit on a bench by the fountain.
Bury my face in my hands, sob like a madman.
About to give up and give in.
It's eluded me for the last time.
To catch would take a miracle, and I'm not of that type.
Suddenly I notice a bird whistle a tune.
Two, three, and four show up their voices a kind of soothe.
The clouds run away.
The sun is now shining through.
Could it be here, what I've been searching for, could it possibly be true?
My eyes follow the sound of a figure sitting down, beside me.
Greeted with a smile, just what I needed.
I finally found it.
You

An awesome soundtrack to an awesome movie

I picked this up earlier this year after regretting not getting it some years back. It is the 2016 reissue and sounds great. I’m most definitely glad I was able to find it again!

Careful, Anger Repression - Poem

Never taken, nor defeated.
The touch is soft, mild, and weakened.
What's the matter?
Where are the tears?
Of resentment, after so many years.
It's still there.
Inside
Ticking like a timed mine.
Keep it all in, if you dare.
Think of it as liquid, handle with care.
